For those Dollar Menuaires that can’t get enough of their daily
intake of poly-uncircumsized fat they have a problem in Reno
Nevada. Many of the McDonalds restaurants
where shut down yesterday because they rounded up the staff as illegal
immigrants. According to news accounts 56 employees were rounded up and taken
away from an investigation into identity theft.
No surprise that an owner of multiple McDonalds under investigation
now feigns surprise and says, "As an employer, I do not knowingly hire or
employ undocumented or unauthorized workers," What he doesn’t want to
admit that someone in his organization does!
I bet there is a new course added to the burger school that
all owners are required to complete before opening a McDonalds’ restaurant; “Are
your employees McLegal?”
What are missing from these enforcement actions are the
owners accompanying their employees to jail in hand cuffs. If there is good
enough reason to arrest the workers then there ought to be enough suspicion that
their employer had some part in this. Identity theft exists because no one
verifies the documents presented and that perpetuates the problem. It is much
easier and cost effective to feign ignorance than to comply with the law. Tell
the prospective employee, “ I’ll have to verify your identity with the
government before I can employ you” and watch how many never call back to check
on the job status. Better yet check with the government and verify their legal
status, if they’re not legal then call DHS and tell them you just had someone
attempt identity fraud and here is their information on where they can be
found!
McDonalds can promote a new line of children’s toys to go
along with their burgers. To accompany the Ham Burglar they could have the Bean
Basher and the Taco Bender. Maybe they’ll take and distribute video games like
Burger King where you chase the Bean Basher and the Taco Bender back across the
border to win the game!
